Koh Lanta National Park Entrance Fee and Opening Hours

Thai national parks charge different rates to foreign visitors and Thai nationals, a reduced rate to children and a small fee per vehicle. There are two separate tickets on Koh Lanta: one for the land section at Laem Tanod, and one for the marine islands, Koh Rok and Koh Ha, which you pay when you visit them by boat.

What the fee includes, and what it doesn't

• Included: access to the Laem Tanod headquarters area at the southern tip of Koh Lanta Yai, its lighthouse, the nature trail, the viewpoints and the headquarters beach.
• Not included: transport to the park, food and drinks, a guide, and any boat trip. Getting there from Saladan takes about 50 to 60 minutes by road.
• Island trips are separate: the marine park fee for Koh Rok and Koh Ha (400 THB per foreign adult, 200 THB per child, checked 27 September 2026) is not included in the price of the boat tours. It is paid in cash on the day of the trip, so carry the exact amount for your group. See our Koh Rok and Koh Ha closure guide.
• One ticket does not cover the other: paying at Laem Tanod does not exempt you from the island fee, and the other way round.
• Camping and bungalows: the park runs a campsite at Laem Tanod and a few bungalows near the visitor centre, charged on top of the entrance fee.

Opening hours and seasonal closures

The closure of the marine islands is fixed every year by the Department of National Parks, and the published sources do not agree on the dates. For 2026, thainationalparks.com gives 16 May to 14 October for most of the smaller islands and 1 June to 30 September for Koh Rok; other sources give 16 May to 31 October. We do not print a single date because none is confirmed.

In practice, boat trips to Koh Rok and Koh Ha stop around mid-May and restart in November, once the sea has calmed. If your trip falls in October or November, confirm with the operator, or with the park, before you book.

How to pay at the gate

Pay in Thai baht, in cash, at the booth by the entrance. There are few ATMs in the south of the island, so withdraw in Saladan or on the northern beaches before you set off. Small notes make it easier: a couple on one scooter pays 420 THB (two foreign adults plus the motorbike), a family of two adults and two children aged 3 to 14 in a car pays 630 THB, at the rates checked 27 September 2026. If you arrive with a tour, ask the guide whether the fee has been paid for you before you hand over cash. For a boat trip to Koh Rok or Koh Ha, set aside the marine park fee in cash the night before. If you have a scooter or car, the rest of the day's costs are fuel and whatever you eat and drink, since there is little to buy inside the park.

What is worth the fee once you are inside

• Laem Tanod lighthouse: the focal point, at the end of the peninsula, with views over the open Andaman Sea.
• The nature trail: a loop of about 1.7 km of moderate intensity starting at the visitor centre, through forest towards the headland. Wear proper shoes.
• The headquarters beach: about 300 m of shallow, turquoise water, good for a swim after the walk when the sea is calm.
• Viewpoints and the rocky shore: good for photos, especially in the morning light.
• Nearby: the park combines naturally with Bamboo Bay and Kantiang Bay on the way back north.

Planning the visit

Allow half a day including travel from the west-coast beaches; the trail and the lighthouse take one to two hours at a relaxed pace. Go in the morning, before the heat builds, and bring water. Mobile signal is patchy in the south, so download an offline map first.
